The Ontario government on Wednesday revealed the first round of investments through its housing enabling water systems infrastructure fund.
Premier Doug Ford said a total of $970 million will go to 54 projects in 60 municipalities to help build, fix, rehabilitate, and expand infrastructure for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater. This is headlined by a $35 million commitment to G.E. Booth, a station at 1300 Lakeshore Rd. E, which currently processes an average of 518 ML of wastewater per day, according to Peel Regional Chair and CEO Nando Iannica.
This will help with the building of new homes in the area, including the huge Lakeview Village project. Approximately 16,000 homes are expected to be built there.
